-
The labs are for the use of the EKU community (faculty/staff/students) and for educational purposes only.
-
Computers in the labs are installed with licensed software necessary for the educational purposes of EKU.
Do not download or use software that is not licensed or is not supported by EKU.
-
Save your documents to a floppy disk, zip disk, CD-RW, jump drive, or your student web space.
If you save your document on the computer--not on a diskette or some other removable media--it may not be there next
time you use that lab.
-
Do not display or print pictures, graphics, or text that may offend others.
-
Printing is managed by Pharos Uniprint. See information below.
-
No food, drink, smoking, or tobacco products are permitted in the labs.
-
No animals are permitted in the labs.
-
Small children must be supervised at all times.
-
Ignorance of the rules is no excuse for violating them
The installation of Pharos Uniprint in campus computer labs is EKU’s effort to promote responsible
printing and to conserve resources by controlling laser-printing abuse, waste, and rising costs.
Printing a job is a two step process. Two different windows pop up
on your screen – the first one asks for username and password, while the second one gives you a print
balance and asks if you want to proceed. Make sure that you wait for the second window and respond “yes”
if you indeed want to print. Otherwise the job will be dropped, nothing will print, and your print balance will not
change.
As you print in the various computer labs across campus,
remember the following:
-
In general, black & white laser printouts cost 5 cents per page and color printouts cost 50 cents per page.
There are some printers on campus that may have special pricing.
-
Do not send your print job more than once. You will have to pay for it as many times as you send it!!
-
Make doubly-sure that the print job looks the way you want BEFORE you print. User errors, typos, formatting
issues, printing the wrong document, or printing too many pages of the document will not be refunded. Repeated
instances of improper printing that is the fault of the user will not be refunded.
-
To prevent printing a blank sheet as the final page, be sure to preview your document before printing. Then ask
for a page range that excludes a final blank page.
-
Students cannot use their own paper. The paper supplied in the labs is the only paper that can be used.
-
If your output is significantly smudged, faded, streaked, spotty, or creased, you can request a refund.
Complete a Request for Refund slip available in each lab.
Attach the entire bad printout to the slip and submit it to the lab staff. Refund requests are verified against
printing records and will be reviewed and processed within 1-2 days. If your request is approved, your Pharos
Uniprint account will be credited. If your refund is denied, you will receive an email message explaining why.
-
Uniprint balances do not carry forward (roll-over) to the next semester. All students begin a new semester
with a full $25 allocation.
-
Uniprint balances are not refunded at the end of the semester. It is a free allocation!!
-
Students who have exceeded their print allocation for the semester will be billed for the extra printing
on their student bill. Students are financially obligated to EKU for payment of the debt and will be subject to
collection action if they do not make payments as agreed.
-
Personal laptop computers can print to the lab printers but must have the Uniprint client installed on them.
Check with the lab personnel for assistance with the installation. This service is only available in those labs
which have extra network jacks available for laptop use.
-
Once you have approved a print job, it cannot be stopped. The cost of the job will be deducted from your
account balance.
-
Printing in computer classrooms will be charged under the same system as in the public access computer labs.
