The computer resources division of ITDS encompasses three main areas of service for the EKU community: Computer Helpdesk | Desktop Support | Hardware Support

Computer Helpdesk

The Helpdesk is the hub for all service issues, questions, troubleshooting and consultation. It is an EKU computer user’s first point of contact for most technical issues at EKU. We provide a wide array of information to the university community, and pride ourselves on our partnership with users to promptly resolve many problems over the telephone or diagnose and report these issues to the Desktop Support Team for on site resolution.

Some services the helpdesk provides on a daily basis:

  • Telephone and walk-in support and consultation
  • Laptop software support and troubleshooting
  • Usability consultation
  • Reporting issues for resolution by Desktop/Hardware Support
  • Scheduling ITDS computer classrooms for use of faculty and staff
  • Disseminating information about critical service outages and issues that -affect users on a campus wide/world wide basis.

The Helpdesk support branch of the ITDS Computer Resources division provides ‘door to door’ service for all software-related concerns. When an ‘issue’ becomes a real problem, the helpdesk turns to our PC and Macintosh support technicians for timely resolution.

Some of the services we provide on a requested basis:

- PC troubleshooting
- New machine setups
- Application installation and consultation
- Printer setup/sharing

Hardware Support

Our hardware support group partners with Accent Systems (link: http://www.accentsystems.com/) to repair all Accent Systems PCs at no additional cost to the department for the life of the machine. We are dedicated to resolving hardware issues as quickly as possible.

Some of the services the Hardware Support team renders to the EKU community in house:

  • Printer repair/routine maintenance
  • Consultation/repair of certain fax machines
  • Consultation/installation of RAM
  • Consultation of system upgrades
  • Peripheral installation
  • Internal component installation
