How do I use EKU Password Reset Manager (EPM)

Printer Friendly

Getting started with EKU Password Manager

To start using Password Manager, you must create your personal Questions and Answers profile. Q&A profile is a series of questions that are presented to you later when you reset your forgotten password or unlock your account. To create or update your Q&A profile, you must provide your answers to these questions and make sure that you are the only one who knows the correct answers. Follow the “First Time User” directions to setup your Q&A profile.

Q&A Protocol

EKU requires that a users’ Q&A profile consist of a choice of two pre-defined questions and one user-defined question. The following rules are also in effect:

  • Minimum length of answers are at least 3 characters.
  • Minimum length of user-defined questions are at least 10 characters.
  • Users can not use the same answers for different questions.
  • Users can not use answers that are parts of the corresponding questions.

What is a passcode?

The EKU help desk (x3000) can give a user a temporary code (passcode) that will allow the user to log into the self service Password Manager site without knowing their question answers or their current password. To get this passcode from the help desk they will have to use methods to validate that you are in fact the owner of the account. Passcodes are temporary and will expire if the passcode life has ended (currently 60 mins) or if a new passcode is generated for the account. Passcodes are helpful if a user has forgotten their password and the answers to their Q&A profile. Also used if a user has forgotten their password and have never setup their Q&A profile in the past.
