(to be called when a busy extension becomes free)
 
To activate automatic callback  
(only works when calling extension without voicemail) listen for dial tone > dial *5 > dial tone > dial extension > listen for 3 short tones > hang up immediately > you will be called back.
 
When you are called back with automatic callback  
Listen for 3 short rings > lift handset and hear ringing > wait for answer.
 
To cancel automatic callback  
Listen for dial tone > dial #5 > listen for 3 short tones > hang up.
 
Call Forwarding All Calls
(This Cancels Voicemail)
(to have all your incoming calls go to another extension)

To activate call forwarding (all calls)  
Listen for dial tone > dial *2 > dial extension > listen for 3 short tones > hang up immediately > your calls will be forwarded.
 
To cancel call forwarding (all calls)  
Listen for dial tone > dial #2 > listen for 3 short tones > hang up.
 
Call Forwarding Busy/Don't Answer
(This Cancels Voicemail)
(to provide backup coverage for your incoming calls)

(rings 3 times then goes to extension forwarded to)
listen for dial tone > dial *3 > dial extension > listen for 3 short
tones > hang up immediately > your calls will be forwarded.
 
To cancel Call Forwarding (Busy/Don't Answer)  
Listen for dial tone > dial #2 > listen for 3 short tones > hang up.
 
Call Hold
(to put a call on hold)

To hold a call  
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial tone > dial *4 > listen for dial tone > lay handset down > do not hang up.
 
To hold call and consult with another party  
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial tone > dial *4 > listen for dial tone > dial third party > party answers > converse.
 
To alternate between held calls  
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial tone > dial *4 > begin talking immediately (NOTE:  Your present call is put on hold and the previously held call is returned to your line).
 
To return to held call  
Hang up > your telephone will ring > answer and resume
conversation
 
Call Pick-up
(to answer a ringing phone in your pick-up group, your extension must be in same pick-up group)

To pick up from idle phone  
Listen for dial tone > dial *7 > begin talking immediately.
 
To hold call and pick up  
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial  tone > dial *4 > listen for dial tone > dial *7 > begin talking (NOTE:  Your present call is put on hold and the incoming call is put through to your line).
 
To alternate between held calls
 
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial tone > dial *4 > begin talking immediately (NOTE:  Your present call is put on hold and the previously held call is returned to your line).
 
To return to held call
 
Hang up > your telephone will ring > answer and resume conversation (NOTE:  The other party is disconnected).
 
Call Waiting Signal
(to answer a 1, 2, or 3 beep call waiting signal)

To end call and answer  
Hang up > your telephone will ring > answer and begin conversation (NOTE:  The other party is disconnected).
 
To hold call and answer  
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial tone > dial *4 > listen for dial tone > dial *9 > begin talking immediately (NOTE:  Your present call is put on hold and the incoming call is put through to your line).
 
To alternate between held calls  
Depress switchhook > listen for 3 short tones followed by dial tone > dial *4 > begin talking immediately (NOTE:  Your present call is put on hold and the previously held call is returned to your line).
 
To return to held call  
Hang up > your telephone will ring > answer and resume conversation (NOTE:  The other party is disconnected).
 
Conference Calls
(4 to 24 callers on one telephone call, 3 can be done though Three-way Calling)

The Conference Bridge is capable of accommodating 3 to 24 callers from both on and off campus. Reservations are required to use the bridge. International Calls

To make international telephone calls between 8:00am and 4:30pm you must use a calling card or call the campus operator with the international telephone number and the organization code that needs to be charged for the call.  If you are sending a fax you must call the campus operator from a fax machine with a handset.  The campus operator will then place the call for you.

If you need to make an international telephone call after 4:30pm you must use a calling card.  You may obtain a University calling card that will be billed to your department from the Telecommunications office by calling 21903 between 8:00am and 4:30pm.

 
Three-way Conversation
(to add a third party to an existing call)

To add a third party  
Depress Switchhook > listen for 3 short tones > dial third party (NOTE: If the third party cannot be reached, depress the switchhook to be reconnected with your original party (depress it twice if the third party is outside your dimension system). > party answers > depress switchhook > begin talking immediately.
 
To drop a third party  
Any party hangs up > remaining two parties can converse (NOTE:  One remaining party must be within the DIMENSION system, unless the Trunk to Trunk Transfer feature is provided in your system).

(to transfer a call)

To transfer a call to a third party  
Depress Switchhook > listen for 3 short tones > dial third party (NOTE:  If the third party cannot be reached, depress the switchhook to be reconnected with your original party. > party answers > announce call > hang up > call is transferred.
 
Transfer To Voicemail Box
(to transfer a call directly to voicemail without ringing phone)

To transfer a call directly to voicemail without ringing phone  
Depress switchhook> listen for 3 short tones > dial 8900 > wait for voicemail to answer > enter extension you want voicemail box of then # > hang up > call is connected to voicemail box.
It is important to hang up quickly after pressing # because you want the caller to hear the box's entire greeting.
