The EKU Tech Commons is a new facility located in room 13 of the Powell Building on the plaza floor formerly housing the Bowling Alley. This facility features cutting edge technology in a multi-function classroom called the Emerging Technology Studio to equip students and faculty with the tools to achieve success in the classroom. This classroom is available to faculty who can schedule a meeting time with the Tech Commons information desk.

Another feature of the new Tech Commons is the spacious, technologically equipped computer lab available to students. This lab is fully equipped with fifty Windows computers along with Mac computers as well. It has both spacious desks and an open environment designed to decrease clutter and stress throughout the student’s stay.  The lab features a color printer and a black and white printer for full use by the student in correlation with their student tech fee.  Near the student lab is a student meeting room. This room is equipped with a multi functional conference table along with a projector screen for easy viewing.

In a separate, open space filled with numerous cozy couches, chairs, and desks is the student lounge area. This area features a projector screen along with several 22” wide computer monitors that are mounted on pillars for students to plug their laptops into and use for group meetings or class projects. Students are free to bring beverages and snacks along with their laptops and connect to the wireless internet available on campus to study or relax.
