Banner Training

Banner 101 Navigation

2 Hour

Who is it for?

This course is intended for beginning Banner users (not EKU Direct).

Description

During this session, participants will gain general navigation skills with emphasis on using the forms and initiating searches to access information within banner. As an alternative to Banner 101 class training, Banner 7 Navigation (computer based training) is available at http://banweb.eku.edu/edudoc/ or from the documentation link on http://banweb.eku.edu/. Computer Based Training provides the learner with ‘hands on’ tasks, animation for help and the convenience of learning at your own PC.

Banner 104 Student Information Training

2.5 Hour

Who is it for?

This course is intended for academic offices including deans, chairs, their secretaries and administrative assistants.

Description

During this session, participants will gain skills for obtaining course/section info, faculty schedules & class rosters, and general student information. Navigation is a prerequisite.

Banner F04

3.5 Hour

Who is it for?

This class is intended for users who have responsibilities for buying goods/services from a vendor for your department or grant.

Description

During this session, participants will view budgeting forms to obtain the available balance for the operating budget.  Also the participant will gain skills for creating purchase and central stores requisitions and purchase receipts.  A requisition is created in order to obtain goods/services from a vendor or from the EKU Central Stores warehouse.  A purchase receipt is created in order to acknowledge receipt of goods/services from the vendor. Navigation is a prerequisite.

Who is it for?

This class is intended for directors and department heads or those who have responsibilities for maintaining/monitoring the departmental budget.

Description

During this session, participants will gain skills for interpreting transactions (activity) recorded for the organization (department budget).  Also the participants will gain skills in printing the monthly budget reports from Eprint. Navigation is a prerequisite.

Adobe Contribute

Who is it for?

This workshop is recommended for users maintaining an existing web page.

Description

Adobe Contribute is a web browser and editor in one. This program is used to quickly and easily add or update new pages, edit text, and insert new images; an excellent resource for users needing to add or update information on a regular basis. Adobe's Contribute software is a scaled-down version of the full-featured web page editing program, Dreamweaver.

Workshop contents include:

  • Learn about the differences between Contribute and Dreamweaver.
  • Creating a new connection to your web site using Contribute.
  • Learn how to utilize Contribute in web browsing, edit, and publishing.
  • Creating new pages and editing current pages.
  • Publishing Microsoft Office documents or convert them into Flash Paper.
  • Inserting images, tables, hyperlinks, anchors, dates, and many more.
  • Using Contribute's administrator tools and accessibility options.

Adobe Dreamweaver Level I

Who is it for?

This workshop is recommended for beginners with no prior web design experience.

Description

Are you looking for an easy to use method of creating web (HTML) pages? Adobe Dreamweaver is a professional web page editing program that is easy to learn and use with many powerful features. This workshop covers the basics of web page development, organizing materials, saving pages, navigating through Dreamweaver, and other introductory topics. If these topics are familiar, consider signing up for the Dreamweaver Level 2 workshop.

Workshop contents include:

  • Getting familiar with Dreamweaver , start page, panels group, menu bar, property inspector, and many more.
  • Understanding the EKU Web Server Configuration.
  • Differences between local and root folder.
  • Using the proper format to save web pages, and the different types of extensions.
  • Organizing folders, documents, and images.
  • Creating new web pages.

Adobe Dreamweaver Level II

Who is it for?

This workshop is recommended for those who have taken the Dreamweaver Level 1 workshop or have a basic understanding of the Dreamweaver program.

Description

This workshop will cover setting up a new site, inserting tables, links, anchors, email links, images, font options, and accessibility issues. This course provides experienced web designers with the knowledge and practice needed to build web content using advanced Dreamweaver features. All participants receive a six page color handout by Quick Source © 2004.

Workshop contents include:

  • Setting up a new site with Dreamweaver.
  • Dreamweaver preferences and accessibility options.
  • Inserting tables and the uses of tables on the web.
  • Inserting images, hyperlinks, and anchors.
  • Creating text and formatting text using CSS.
  • Understanding the property inspector window, and panels group.

Adobe Dreamweaver Level III

Who is it for?

This workshop is recommended for those who have taken the Dreamweaver Level 2 workshop or those with a good understanding of web page construction and the Dreamweaver program.

Description

This workshop will cover some of the most powerful features of Dreamweaver including Page Properties, CSS Style Sheets, Validation, Broken Link Checker, Library, Templates, Accessibility, and Assets Panel. This workshop will demonstrate as many features as time allows but will focus primarily on working with and applying CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

Workshop contents include:

  • Using powerful tools built in Dreamweaver .
  • Clean up HTML, check for broken links, and change links sitewide.
  • Understanding the assets and file panel group.
  • Using the built in library and the advantages.
  • Running site reports this option is great for accessibility.

Smart Board

Description

Enhance the delivery of your lecture by creating a virtual experience. Grab and keep the attention of your students by spicing up your content with recorded movies that follow your every virtual move on a SMART Board.  Save your entire ‘live’ lecture including written comments and input from students and then email the saved lecture file after class is over.

If you can create a document on a computer then you can use a SMART Board.
